Do you hear what I hear? No, there’s no one on the rooftop… yet. It’s tiny bags crinkling inside their boxes just waiting to be unwrapped and built! Put an extra log and the fire before we continue opening all six LEGO advent calendars: Friends, Disney, City, Harry Potter, Star Wars, and Spider-man! As ever, our intrepid TBB team is on hand with witty comments, insightful observations, and bad jokes for each day’s builds. And of course, you can add your own thoughts in the comments section each day! So without further ado, let’s crack open the build for day 15… Yesterday’s frog from Disney gains a princess pal. It’s Tiana, still glowing from the debut of her E-ticket ride revamp at the Magic Kingdom. Friends presents a sewing station, stool, and Santa cap. Did young Olly get his sewing start this Christmas? Harry Potter brings another table with goblets and...
All year-round, we here at The Brothers Brick spend our time featuring amazing builds made by the LEGO fan community. But we figured, for the holiday season, it would be great to build something together. For each day from December 1st through the 24th, we’ll be posting instructions to a custom TBB advent calendar build, one part each day. Want to participate? You can find all the parts you’ll need for the TBB Advent Event from our announcement in November. Read on to see what we’re building today! Time to finish this fireplace. Before anyone asks, a wrench is about as close as I could get in shape to a minifig-sized fire poker. Here’s what it looks like in the real world: The post 2024 TBB custom LEGO advent calendar – Day 14 [Feature] appeared first on The Brothers Brick. For a while now, Bartosz Sobecki aka Sobek_Bricks has been engaging the online AFOL community in an amazing way by showing off well-thought-out minifigure combinations. Known as fig-bashing, creating custom minifigures out of existing parts is a longstanding tradition in the community, but Sobek takes it to the next level. Importantly, he also gives advice to other builders, new and old, on how to improve on creating custom minifigures. He does this by showing tutorials and by rating minifigures of others, teaching that creating minifigures can be a lot of fun! Disembodied Mage I sat down with him to talk through his process and you might be surprised at how much thought goes into these “purist” custom minifigures. An Interview with Sobek Bricks Marco: Looking at your Instagram feed, it's clear that you love creating fantasy characters. Where do you get most of your inspiration from? And is there a theme...
An amusing tale of animal rescue from Skaerbaek Fan Weekend in 2023. Many moons ago, in the land of Vikings and plastic bricks, a small group of intrepid travellers sought out interesting goods and wares at the local purveyor of previously owned fine goods. The monkey and a traveller Amongst the wares, they were delighted to see a friendly, but lonely, monkey of epic proportions. The first traveller wished to rescue the monkey, but did not have enough coins of the realm. The second and third travellers also wished to rescue the monkey but did not have the means in which to safely transport it to their faraway abode. The travellers were sad to have to abandon the monkey, but the fates were not with them that day. Not all was lost, however, as another band of intrepid travellers appeared just a short time later. This group was younger and greater...
